Chapter 1


The children of Israel increase in numbers (1:1-7) A new king over Egypt arises (1:8-10) The more the children of Israel are oppressed, the more they multiply (1:11-14) The midwives save the Hebrew male children (1:15-21) Pharaoh commands the male children to be cast into the river (1:22)

Chapter 2


Moses is born, and set afloat in a basket of bulrushes (2:1-4) Moses is found by Pharaoh's daughter (2:5-10) Moses slays an Egyptian (2:11-12) Moses reproves a Hebrew (2:13-14) Moses flees into Midian (2:15-20) Moses marries Zipporah (2:21) Moses's son Gershom is born (2:22) God hears the complaints of the Israelites (2:23-25)

Chapter 3

Chapter 4

Chapter 5

Chapter 6


God renews His promise by His name Jehovah (6:1-13) The genealogy of Reuben (6:14) The genealogy of Simeon (6:15) The genealogy of Levi, ancestor of Moses and Aaron (6:16-30)

Chapter 7


Moses is encouraged to go to Pharaoh (7:1-6) Moses and Aaron ages (7:7) Moses's rod is turned into a serpent (7:8-10) The sorcerers do the same (7:11-12) Pharaoh's heart is hardened against the Israelites (7:13) God's message to Pharaoh (7:14-18) The river is turned into blood (7:19-25)

Chapter 8


The plague of frogs are sent (8:1-7) Pharaoh calls for Moses, who removes them through prayer (8:8-15) The dust is turned into lice (8:16-19) Swarms of flies are sent upon the Egyptians (8:20-24) Pharaoh is inclined to let the people go, but his heart is hardened (8:25-32)

Chapter 9


The plague on the cattle (9:1-7) The plague of boils and blisters is sent (9:8-12) Moses message about the hail (9:13-21) The plague of hail (9:22-26) Pharaoh pleads with Moses (9:27-34) Pharaoh's heart is still hardened (9:35)

Chapter 10


God threatens to send locusts (10:1-6) Pharaoh, urged by his servants, is to let the Israelites go (10:7-11) The plague of the locusts (10:12-15) Pharaoh pleads with Moses (10:16-20) The plague of darkness (10:21-23) Pharaoh entreats Moses, but his heart still is hardened (10:24-29)

Chapter 11


God's message to the Israelites to borrow jewels of their neighbors (11:1-3) Moses threatens Pharaoh with the death of the firstborn (11:4-10)

Chapter 12


The beginning of the year is changed, and the passover is instituted (12:1-10) The rite of the passover (12:11-14) Unleavened bread (12:15-28) The firstborn are slain (12:29-30) The Israelites are sent out of Egypt (12:31-42) The ordinance of the passover (12:43-51)

Chapter 13


The firstborn are sanctified to God (13:1-10) The firstborn of beasts are set apart (13:11-16) The Israelites go out of Egypt, and carry Joseph's bones with them (13:17-20) They come to Etham (13:20) God guides them by a pillar of a cloud, and a pillar of fire (13:21-23)

Chapter 14


God instructs the Israelites in their journey (14:1-4) Pharaoh pursues them (14:5-9) The Israelites murmur (14:10-12) Moses comforts the Israelites(14:13-14) God instructs Moses (14:15-18) The cloud moves to a position behind the camp (14:19-20) The Israelites pass through the Red Sea (14:21-22) The Egyptians are killed by the Red Sea(14:23-31)

Chapter 15


Moses' song (15:1-21) The people want water, but the waters at Marah are bitter (15:22-24) A tree sweetens them (15:25-26) At Elim are twelve wells and seventy palm trees (15:27)

Chapter 16


The Israelites come to Sin (16:1) They Israelites murmur for want of bread (16:2-3) God promises them bread from heaven (16:4-10) Quails and manna are sent (16:11-15) Regulations concerning manna (16:16-24) Manna and quail won't be given on the sabbath (16:25-31) An omer to preserve the mana (16:32-36)

Chapter 17


The people murmur for water at Rephidim (17:1-4) God sends them to the rock in Horeb for water (17:5-7) Amalek is overcome when the rod of God is held up in Moses' hands (17:8-14) Moses builds the altar Jehovah-nissi (17:15-16)

Chapter 18


Jethro brings Moses his wife and two sons (18:1-6) Moses entertains him (18:7-12) Moses judges the people and Jethro counsel Moses (18:13-23) Jethro's counsel is accepted and judges are appointed (18:24-26) Jethro departs (18:27)

Chapter 19


The people come to Sinai (19:1-2) God, speaking out of the mount, and tells God's message to the Israelites (19:3-7) The people's answer is given to God (19:8-9) The people are prepared for God appearing on Mt. Sinai on the third day (19:10-11) The mountain must not be touched (19:12-15) The awe-inspiring presence of God on the mount (19:16-25)

Chapter 20


The ten commandments (20:1-17) The people are afraid and stand far away (20:18-19) Moses comforts them (20:20-21) The people are forbidden to make images (20:22-23) What kind of altar they should have (20:24-26)

Chapter 24


Moses is called up into the mountain (24:1-2) The people promise obedience (24:3) Moses builds an altar and twelve pillars (24:4-5) He sprinkles the blood of the covenant upon the altar (24:6-8) The glory of God appears to Moses (24:9-13) Aaron and Hur have charge of the people (24:14) Moses goes up into the mountain, where he stays forty days and forty nights (24:15-18)

Aaron and his sons are set apart for the priest's office (28:1) Holy garments are appointed (28:2-5) The ephod (28:6-14) The breastplate, with twelve precious stones (28:15-29) The Urim and Thummim (28:30) The robe of the ephod and the plate of the mitre (28:31-38) The embroidered coat (28:39) The garments for Aaron's sons (28:40-43)

Chapter 29


The ceremonies of consecrating the priests (29:1-9) The order of sacrifices (29:10-37) The daily burnt offering (29:38-44) God's promise to dwell among the children of Israel (29:45-46)

Chapter 30


Directions for making the altar of incense (30:1-10) The ransom of souls (30:11-16) The brasen laver (30:17-21) The holy anointing oil (30:22-33) The composition of the perfume (30:34-38)

Chapter 31


Bezaleel and Aholiab are called for the work of the tabernacle (31:1-11) The observation of the sabbath is commanded again (31:12-17) Moses receives the two tables (31:18)

Chapter 32


In the absence of Moses cause Aaron and the people to make a golden calf (32:1-6) God is angered (32:7-10) Moses makes intercession for Israel and God accepts it(32:11-14) Moses comes down with the tablets (32:15-18) Moses breaks the tablets(32:19) Moses destroys the calf (32:20-21) Aaron's excuse for himself (32:22-24) Moses causes the idol worshippers to be slain (32:25-29) Moses prays for the people (32:30-35)

Chapter 33


The Lord refuses to go with the people (33:1-3) The people murmur (33:4-6) The tabernacle is removed out of the camp (33:7-8) The Lord talks with Moses (33:9-11) Moses desires to see the glory of God (33:12-23)

Chapter 34


The tables are renewed (34:1-7) Moses entreats God to go with them (34:8-9) God makes a covenant with them (34:10) Israel warned about the Idolatry in Canaan (34:11-17) Israel told about the three Feasts to keep in Canaan (34:18-27) Moses, after forty days in the mount, comes down with the tables (34:28) His face shines, and he covers it with a veil (34:29-35)

The cloths of service and holy garments made of (39:1) The ephod what made of (39:2-7) The breastplate what made of (39:8-21) The robe of the ephod with pomegranates and bells made of (39:22-28) The coats, mitre and girdle of fine linen made of (39:27-29) The plate of the holy crown (39:30-31) All is viewed and approved by Moses (39:32-43)

Chapter 40


The erection of the tabernacle, with its anointing, is commanded (40:1-12) Aaron and his sons are to be sanctified (40:13-33) A cloud covers the tabernacle (40:34-38)
