Chapter 1


The time of Ezekiel's prophecy at Chebar (1:1-3) His vision of four living creatures (1:4-14) Of the four wheels (1:15-21) The Firmament (1:22-25) And of the glory of God (1:26-28)

Chapter 2


Ezekiel's commission (2:1-5) His instruction (2:6-8) The roll of his severe prophecy (2:9-10)

Chapter 3


Ezekiel eats the roll (3:1-3) God encourages him (3:4-14) And shows him the rule of prophecy (3:15-21) God shuts and opens the prophet's mouth (3:22-27)

Chapter 4


The sign of the Tile (4:1-3) The sign of Ezekiel's lying on his side foretells the number of years of siege from Jeroboam's defection to the captivity (4:4-8) By the provisions needed for the siege is shown the hardness of the famine (4:9-17)

Chapter 5


By the figure of hair (5:1-4) Is shown the judgment of Jerusalem for its rebellion (5:5-11) By famine, sword and dispersion (5:12-17)

Chapter 6


The judgment of Israel for idolatry (6:1-7) A remnant shall be blessed (6:8-10) The land will be made desolate (6:11-14)

Chapter 7


The final desolation of Israel (7:1-15) The repentance of those who escape (7:16-19) The enemies defile the sanctuary because of the Israelites' abominations (7:20-22) The figure of a chain foretells their miserable captivity (7:23-27)

Chapter 8


Ezekiel, in a vision of God at Jerusalem (8:1-4) Is shown the image of jealousy (8:5-6) The chambers of idolatry (8:7-12) The weeping for Tammuz (8:13-14) The sun worshipers (8:15-17) God's wrath for their idolatry (8:18)

Chapter 9


A vision wherein the preservation of some is shown (9:1-4) With the destruction of the rest (9:5-7) Weeping of Ezekiel, God cannot be entreated for them (9:8-11)

Chapter 10


The departure of the Glory of God to the threshold (10:1-7) The vision of the wheels and cherubims (10:8-22)

Chapter 11


The presumption of the princes (11:1-3) Their sin and judgment (11:4-12) When Ezekiel complains, God shows His purpose in saving a remnant (11:13-20) And punishing the wicked (11:21) The glory of God leaves the Mount of Olives (11:22-23) Ezekiel is returned to captivity (11:24-25)

Chapter 12


The figure of Ezekiel's removal (12:1-7) It shows the captivity of Zedekiah (12:8-16) Ezekiel's trembling shows the Jews' desolation (12:17-20) The Jews' presumptuous proverb is reproved (12:21-25) The imminent fulfillment of the vision (12:26-28)

Chapter 13


The reproof of lying prophets (13:1-9) And their false visions (13:10-16) Of prophetesses and their magic bands (13:17-21) The Lord promises deliverance (13:22-23)

Chapter 14


God answers idolaters according to their own heart (14:1-5) They are exhorted to repent, for fear of judgments (14:6-11) God's irrevocable sentence of famine (14:12-14) Of noisome ( offensive or noxious ) beasts (14:15-16) Of the sword (14:17-18) And of pestilence (14:19-21) A remnant shall be preserved as an example to others (14:22-23)

Chapter 15


By the unfitness of the vine's branch for any work (15:1-5) Is shown the rejection of Jerusalem (15:6-8)

Chapter 16


By the parable of a wretched infant is shown the natural state of Jerusalem (16:1-5) God's extraordinary love toward her (16:6-14) Her monstrous lewdness (16:15-34) Her grievous judgment (16:35-43) Her sin, matching her mother's and exceeding those of her sisters, Sodom and Samaria, calls for judgments (16:44-59) Mercy is promised her in the end (16:60-63)

Chapter 17


By the parable of two eagles and a vine (17:1-10) Is shown God's judgment upon Jerusalem for seeking help from Egypt (17:11-21) God promises to plant the cedar of the gospel (17:22-24)

Chapter 18


God reproves use of the parable of sour grapes (18:1-4) He shows how He deals with a just father (18:5-9) With a wicked son of a just father (18:10-13) With a just son of a wicked father (18:14-18) With a wicked man repenting (18:19-23) With a just man rebelling (18:24) He defends His justice (18:25-30) And exhorts the people to repent (18:31-32)

Chapter 19


A lamentation for the princes of Israel, by the parable of lions' whelps (19:1-9) And for Jerusalem, by the parable of a whithered vine (19:10-14)

Chapter 20


God refuses to be consulted by the elders of Israel (20:1-4) He relates the story of their rebellions in Egypt (20:5-9) And in the wilderness (20:10-20) With His judgments recounted (20:21-26) Their rebellion in the land of promise (20:27-32) He promises to gather them by the gospel (20:33-44) By the parable of a forest God shows the destruction of Jerusalem (20:45-49)

Chapter 21


Ezekiel prophesies against Jerusalem, with a sign of sighing (21:1-7) The sharp and bright sword (21:8-13) The prophet is commanded to proclaim (21:14-17) Is against Jerusalem (21:18-24) Against the kingdom (21:25-27) And against the Ammonites (21:28-32)

Chapter 22


A catalogue of sins in Jerusalem (22:1-12) God will burn Israel as dross in His furnace (22:13-22) The general corruption of prophets, priests, princes, and people (22:23-31)

Chapter 23


The parable of the two lewd sisters, Aholah and Aholibah (23:1-21) Aholibah is to be plagued by her lovers (23:22-35) The prophet reproves the adulteries of both vile sisters (23:36-44) And shows their judgments (23:45-49)

Chapter 24


By the parable of a boiling pot (24:1-5) The destruction of Jerusalem (24:6-10) Is foretold as irrevocable (24:11-14) By the sign of Ezekiel not mourning for the death of his wife (24:15-18) He shows the calamity of the Jews to be beyond all sorrow (24:19-27)

Chapter 25


God's vengeance, for their insolence against the Jews, upon the Ammonites (25:1-7) Upon Moab and Seir (25:8-11) Upon Edom (25:12-14) And upon the Philistines (25:15-17)

Chapter 26


For insults to Jerusalem, Tyrus (Tyre) is threatened (26:1-6) The power of Nebuchadrezzar (Nebuchadnezzar) against her (26:7-14) At the fall of Tyrus (26:15-16) The princes of the sea will mourn (26:17-21)

Chapter 27


The rich trade of Tyrus (27:1-4) Comes from many lands (27:5-25) The fall of Tyrus (27:26-28) Will be lamented by all who go to sea (27:29-36)

Chapter 28


God's judgment upon the prince of Tyrus for his sacrilegious pride (28:1-10) A lamentation for his great glory, corrupted by sin (28:11-19) The judgment of Zidon (Sidon) (28:20-23) The restoration of Israel (28:24-26)

Chapter 29


Judgment on Pharaoh for his treachery to Israel (29:1-7) The desolation of Egypt (29:8-12) The restoration of Egypt, after forty years (29:13-16) Egypt, the reward of Nebuchadrezzar (29:17-20) Israel shall be restored (29:21)

Chapter 30


The desolation of Egypt and her helpers (30:1-19) The arm of Babylon shall be strengthened to break the arm of Egypt (30:20-26)

Chapter 31


The narration to Pharaoh (31:1-2) Of the glory of Assyria (31:3-9) Whose fall was caused by pride (31:10-17) Similar destruction of Egypt is foretold (31:18)

Chapter 32


A lamentation for the fall of Egypt (32:1-10) The sword of Babylon shall destroy it (32:11-16) It shall be brought down to Sheol, among all the uncircumcised nations (32:17-31) Fear of the Lord shall prevail (32:32)

Chapter 33


A watchman's duty is to warn the people (33:1-6) Ezekiel is appointed watchman over Israel (33:7-9) God shows the justice of His ways toward the penitent, and toward revolters (33:10-16) God maintains His justice (33:17-20) Ezekiel receives news of Jerusalem's fall, and he foretells its desolation (33:21-29) God's judgment on the mockers of the prophets (33:30-33)

Chapter 34


A reproof of the shepherds (34:1-2) For selfishness and harshness (34:3-6) God's judgment against them (34:7-10) His providence for His flock (34:11-19) The kingdom of Christ (34:20-31)

Chapter 35


The judgment of Mount Seir, for hatred of Israel (35:1-15)

Chapter 36


The land of Israel if comforted, both by destruction of the heathen (36:1-7) And by God's promised blessings (36:8-15) Israel was rejected because of sin (36:16-20) But will be restored (36:21-24) The blessings of Christ's kingdom (36:25-38)

Chapter 37


By the resurrection of dry bones (37:1-10) The dead hope of Israel is revived (37:11-14) By the uniting of two sticks (37:15-17) Is shown the incorporation of Israel into Judah (37:18-19) The promises of Christ's kingdom (37:20-28)

Chapter 38


Ezekiel is directed to prophesy against the army of Gog (38:1-7) The malice of Gog is described in graphic detail (38:8-13) God's judgment against him (38:14-23)

Chapter 39


Gog shall be destroyed (39:1-7) Israel's victory (39:8-10) Gog's burial in Hamon-gog (39:11-16) The feast of the fowls (39:17-22) Israel, plagued for sins, shall be restored with eternal favor (39:23-29)

Chapter 40


The time, manner and purpose of the vision (40:1-4) The description and measurements of the east gate (40:5-19) Of the north gate (40:20-23) Of the south gate (40:24-31) With added details of the east gate (40:32-34) And of the north gate (40:35-38) Eight tables (40:39-43) The chambers (40:44-47) The porch of the house (40:48-49)

Chapter 41


Chambers and ornaments of the temple (41:1-26)

Chapter 42


The chambers for the priests (42:1-12) The use of these chambers (42:13-18) The dimensions of the outer court (42:19-20)

Chapter 43


God's glory again fills the temple (43:1-6) The sin of Israel had prevented God's presence (43:7-9) The prophet exhorts the people to repentance and observation of the law of the house (43:10-12) The dimensions (43:13-17) And the ordinances of the altar (43:18-20) As a sin offering, a young bullock (43:21-24) And seven young goats, shall be sacrificed (43:25-27)

Chapter 44


The east gate assigned only to the prince (44:1-3) The priests reproved for pollution of the sanctuary (44:4-8) Idolaters incapable of the priest's office (44:9-14) The sons of Zadok are acceptable as priests (44:15-16) Ordinances for the priests (44:17-31)

Chapter 45


The portion of land for the sanctuary (45:1-5) For the city (45:6) And for the prince (45:7-8) Ordinances for the prince (45:9-25)

Chapter 46


Regulations for the prince, in his worship (46:1-8) And for the people (46:9-15) An order for the prince's inheritance (46:16-18) The courts for boiling and baking (46:19-24)

Chapter 47


The vision of the holy waters (47:1-5) Their healing and life-giving qualities (47:6-12) The borders of the land (47:13-21) It is to be divided by lot (47:22-23)

Chapter 48


Portions of the tribes (48:1-7) Of the sanctuary, which is not to be sold or exchanged (48:8-14) And of the city and suburbs, with their workers (48:15-20) The remainder is set aside for the prince (48:21-22) Portions allotted to the rest of the tribes (48:23-29) The dimensions and gates of the city (48:30-35)

DANIEL




Chapter 1


Jehoiakim's captivity (1:1-2) Ashpenaz brings the four Hebrew youths to the palace school (1:3-7) Refusing the king's portion they thrive on vegetables and water (1:8-16) Their wisdom (1:17-21)

Chapter 2


Nebuchadnezzar forgets his dream, yet demands its interpretation under penalty of death (2:1-9) The Chaldeans are unable even to tell the dream, and are sentenced (2:10-13) The dream is revealed to Daniel in a vision (2:14-18) He blesses God (2:19-23) He is brought to the king, after asking mercy for the wise men (2:24-30) The dream (2:31-35) The interpretation (2:36-45) Daniel's advancement (2:46-49)

Chapter 3


Nebuchadnezzar dedicates a golden image (3:1-7) Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego are accused (3:8-12) They refuse to worship the image, and are cast into a furnace (3:13-23) God delivers them (3:24-25) Nebuchadnezzar, seeing the miracle, blesses God (3:26-30)

Chapter 4


Nebuchadnezzar praises God's kingdom (4:1-3) He relates his dream, which the magicians cannot interpret (4:4-7) Daniel hears the dream (4:8-18) He interprets it (4:19-27) Nebuchadnezzar loses his mind and kingdom because of pride (4:28-33) But regains his reason and his throne on turning to God (4:34-37)

Chapter 5


Belshazzar's impious feast (5:1-4) The handwriting on the wall (5:5-9) Daniel is brought before the king (5:10-16) He reproves the king for pride and idolatry (5:17-24) Then reads and interprets the writing (5:25-29) The end of Belshazzar's kingdom (5:30-31)

Chapter 6


Daniel is made chief of the presidents (6:1-3) Who conspire against him and obtain a decree from the king (6:4-9) Daniel accused of breaking this law, is cast into the lion's den (6:10-17) Daniel is saved (6:18-23) His adversaries devoured (6:24) And God magnified by a decree of Darius (6:25-28)

Chapter 7


Daniel's vision of four beasts (7:1-8) And of God's kingdom (7:9-14) The interpretation of the vision (7:15-28)

Chapter 8


Daniel's vision of the ram and the he-goat (8:1-12) The 2,300 days of sacrifice (8:13-14) Gabriel comforts Daniel and interprets the vision (8:15-27)

Chapter 9


Daniel, considering the time of the captivity (9:1-2) Makes confession of sins (9:3-15) And prays for the restoration of Jerusalem (9:16-19) Gabriel informs him of the seventy weeks (9:20-27)

Chapter 10


Daniel, having humbled himself, sees a vision (10:1-9) Being troubled and fearful, he is comforted by the angel (10:10-17) Strengthening by the Heavenly messenger (10:18-21)

Chapter 11


He predicts the overthrow of Persia by the king of Grecia (Greece) (11:1-4) Leagues and conflicts between the kings of the south and of the north (11:5-29) The invasion and tyranny of the Romans (11:30-45)

Chapter 12


Prophecy of the great time of trouble to come (12:1) Prophecy of the resurrections (12:2-3) Sealing of the book (12:4) Questions regarding the great time of troublre to come (12:5-13)

HOSEA




Chapter 1


God tells Hosea to take Gomer as his wife so that he can show his judgement for spiritual adultery (1:1-3) And has by her Jezreel (1:4-5) Lo-ruhmah (1:6-7) And Lo-ammi (1:8-9) The restoration of Judah and Israel (1:10-11)

Chapter 2


The spiritual idolatry of the people (2:1-5) God's judgments against them (2:6-13) His promises of reconciliation with them (2:14-23)

Chapter 3


By the type of an adulteress before redemption (3:1-3) Is shown the desolation of Israel before restoration (3:4-5)

Chapter 4


God's judgments on the sins of the people (4:1-5) And of the priests (4:6-11) And on their idolatry (4:12-14) Judah is exhorted to take warning by Israel's calamity (4:15-19)

Chapter 5


God's judgments on the priests, the people, and the princes of Israel for their manifold sins (5:1-14) Until they repent and seek Him (5:15)

Chapter 6


An exhortation to repentance (6:1-3) God complains of their perversity and iniquity (6:4-11)

Chapter 7


God reproves Israel for manifold sins (7:1-10) God's wrath against them for their hypocrisy (7:11-16)

Chapter 8


Destruction is threatened for their impiety (8:1-4) And idolatry (8:5-14)

Chapter 9


The distress and captivity of Israel for sins and idolatry (9:1-17)

Chapter 10


Israel is reproved and threatened for impiety and idolatry (10:1-15)
